Kiss Me, Kate

Kiss Me, Kate was our big-cast big-orchestra pull-all-the-stops-out November 2011 production directed by Simon Gray. It was a barnstorming show packed full of showstopping numbers and glamorous choreography.

Forthcoming productions:
In May this year we plan to produce two one act operas:
Il tabarro (The cloak) by Puccini
and The Zoo by Sullivan

Il taborro is a superbly dark and intense drama that combines musical depth with gripping theatre. Moored on the Seine is a barge whose owner, Michele has lost the love of his much younger wife, Giorgetta after the loss of their baby a year before. While he manages the business and broods, she takes up with a handsome young stevedore named Luigi.

The farcical story concerns two pairs of lovers. First, a nobleman, who goes to the zoo to woo the girl who sells snacks there. He tries to impress her by buying and eating all of the food. The other couple is a young chemist who believes that he has poisoned his beloved by mixing up her father's prescription with peppermint that he had meant for her.
